Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very rare complete WWII Navy MI-2454-B communication rig by Radio Corporation of America (RCA) in Camden, NJ, which is complete with earphones and chest microphone. The data plate on the red bakelite
chest housing reads:
HEADSET MI-2454-B
TYPE O SPEC
SERIAL 22461 (U.S. Navy Logo)
RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA
CAMDEN, N.J. U.S.A.
(RCA Logo)
Each of the components also is marked with the RCA logo, along with some mold lot numbers and other control markings. Complete sets are very rare, especially ones that have not had parts swapped out. This set is complete with the ear plug extensions for the ear cups and the often-missing neck strap. It also comes complete with the original connecting plug still tied together with string, all in its original box! The box reads on one side FOR VICTORY SAVE AND SELL THIS EMPTY CARTON AS WASTEPAPER. In the box is a white bag marked STERLING GEL DESICCANT DEHYDRATING AGENT GRADE A, which is a great early example of the small silicone packets we find in products today. The pack is complete with its original strings, a great addition to an already great period set.
This is a phenomenally rare set to find on its own, especially in the original box. It comes ready for further research and display with a Mark II Navy Flak helmet!
